Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

Checking in on the last Vita PSN games out this week

Just a day to go until the final Vita releases hit the PSN store. Here's the latest on what's happening with the last batch as the developers rush toward the finish line.

UPDATE: And that's it, they are live on PSN nice and early, so go get them, binge on trophies and then we sit back to wait and see what PlayAsia can throw our way as later-day physical exclusives or kindly devs decide to release as homebrew.

Pigeon Dev's Witchcrafty is only £3.99 has a release trailer and here's some gameplay footage. Early reviews suggest a few bugs in the game thanks to Sony forcing developers to push games out the door, but it still looks great.

Note that Indigo7 is likely getting a PlayAsia physical-only release later in the year, based on developer Delores' teasing.

In better news, Spooky Squid's Russian Subway Dogs (£11.99, 84MB) is getting some special guest stars with Kepler and Doppler from Lover's in a Dangerous Space Time by Asteroid Base and Uay Chivo from Guacamelee! by DrinkBox Studios.

Gumbo Machine kindly sent over some footage of Ultra Mission in action for those love their classic shooters.

And here's Killer Dolls in action from Domaginarium. This is live on the EU PSN, but is having trouble with the US store, hopefully it'll go live soon.

Brotherhood United has sneaked in as a list-minute surprise.

Hopefully some more bits and pieces before these games hit PSN and we're all too busy playing them. Sadly, Sony's hard cut-off has trashed hopes for Seraphim, which did not make the deadline due to late-breaking development bugs. After years of developed effort, it makes Sony's "we love indies" message seem so much more hollow, would another week really have killed?

That said, thanks to the PSN staff who helped deliver these games and have kept PSN updated, including a final refresh of the Latest games tab.
