Saros delivers Returnal 2 in all but name

Housemarque's Returnal remains one of the best PS5 games. Built to kill, raised to die, and fine-tuned to annoy the shit out me while dragging me back in for yet another go at  2AM.  Not-a-sequel Saros ropes in my one of my favourite actors Rahul Kohli into the mix with proper shields, greater weapons freedom, Indian-styled visuals, and borrowing  Xenon 2: Megablast's palette and violence.  Saros is set on Carcosa, a shape-shifting, hostile alien planet. It changes on every death, where a total eclipse changes everything (very Pitch Black!). The video shows the first biome, hopefully the others shift up the palette more than Returnal did.  Along his journey he finds Nitya Chandran (Shunori Ramanthan), adding some depth to the Returnal-mayhem. The stunning environment Arjun explores is that of a lost ancient civilization fueled by the twisted enlightenment of the eclipse.  Saros lands in March 2026, check out the PlayStation blog post for more details on w...

Possible new PlayStation Portal model pays homage to the Vita's OLED

While much of the focus on PlayStation's next steps is the PS6 and PS6 Portable, the two-year old PlayStation Portal could be getting a revamp according to those pesky internet rumours.

As the improvement in connectivity and streaming tech, proven by many gamers enjoying their PS5 or PlayStation Plus streamed content from around the world, an updated Portal Pro could be on the cards.

Possibly featuring a 120Hz display and an OLED screen in honour of the mighty Vita, that'd be cool.

Assuming the 120HZ streaming is solid, an OLED would be the more welcome addition, especially with the latest generation of technology offering QD-OLED (Quantum Dot-OLED), WOLED (White-OLED) and other buzzy titles for smarter display.

Whatever the tech, a smaller, more pocket-friendly device, would be great, but there seems to be no going back to actual portability.

The Reality of the Next Generation PlayStations

Whatever the reality, Sony has done well with the Portal, so will continue to push the segment (hopefully with some more marketing), to fill in what could be a big gap until the PS6 technology is ready, or there's consumer demand for it.

My guess is 2029, but Sony bean counters will likely push for a nearer release as the PS5 generations start to lose steam, but there's nothing the tech in the PS6 can do to improve good old-fashioned gameplay, and here's hoping they don't chuck a bunch of unwanted AI features in there.

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
