July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Rave Racer drifts onto Arcade Archives 2

The Ridge Racer series is having quite the retro moment, with the PlayStation version arriving last week in the tyre tracks of the arcade original. And now Rave Racer coming to PlayStation, Switch and others thanks to Hamster's Arcade Archives 2 range. Hopefully with more trophies to collect!

Namco's 1995 Rave Racer gets the announcement treatment from Hamster as part of the latest Nintendo Direct. Which leaves me wondering when we get the mighty StarBlade?

Rave Racer never made it to the PlayStation (Rage Racer filled in the gap until the mighty Ridge Racer Type 4). It added new tracks, better handling and improved texturing as 3D arcade technology accelerated up the gears.

Out at the end of the month on Switch and PlayStation, get ready for just one more lap! 

And, while we're on the subject, Taito's older Top Speed is also getting an Arcade Archives release. Admittedly, with the most annoying accelerator sound ever...
