PSP2, Switch 2 and an Xbox handheld... a brighter portable future?

Bubble Bobble floats to the Switch via Arcade Archives

Hamster continues to churn out the classics with Taito's charming Bubble Bobble rolling back the years with its clever gameplay and that chiptune! Out now, finally, on Switch and PSN for PS4/PS5. The one or two-player epic with Bub and Bob, or 'Bubblun' and 'Bobblun' as they were originally known, has them trapping and bursting nasties across one hundred different stages in an effort to rescue their girlfriends from the Cave of Monsters.

The game costs £6.29/$7.99 and still has all the appeal of its 1986 arcade release and a huge number of ports, conversions and updates. If you want something a touch more modern, Bubble Bobble 4 Friends hit the Switch back in the summer. That update offers four-player mayhem and a loving twist on the original formula.

And, if this type of platform peril appeals to you, I have to mention the retro-modern classic Donut Dodo, that is winning hearts around the world.
