PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  April 2026 Update:  Compatibility with PS5 and PS4 games seems to be locked-in, as anything the PS6 full fat hardware the portable versions should be able to do as well, with near-invisible trade-offs at the silicon level.  Prices are firming up too with estimates around the PlayStation 6 handheld at between $500 to $700 and a PlayStation 6 at $700 to $1,000, depending on the deepening silicon crisis and Sony's budgeting wizards.  Only a few developers around the world could afford to take advantage of it for AAA+ budget games. Everyone else is still barely cutting the skin of the PS5's power, and most western smal...

The Lost Cube found on Vita

JanduSoft dropped a fresh preview of its up and coming releases, and in the middle of the new/next-gen console news is The Lost Cube, coming to the Vita too! How many times have you died in Vita games? There's a cosmic question to ask. Me? Got to be approaching 250,000 thanks to all those damn leaping-and-dying games.

Update: There's also a physical release from Eastasiasoft (now sold out), actually looks like the Vita version was physical-only, so we've all missed out! But, it is available on most other platforms.

Developed by Red Mount Media, it looks suspiciously like those many death-by-a-thousand-cuts games (Reed 2, 0000, League of Evil etc.) that have peppered the Vita in recent years, but what's one more step into that abyss?

The Lost Cube offers a nasty collection of spikes, lasers traps and a guitar-toting, jumping hero that looks far from in control of the situation. If he finds the cube he can bring life back to the village, there's just the 60 levels and a few bosses between him and it. Guess I'll die a few thousands more times trying to finish this one...

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
