Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  Update: the Vectrex Kickstarter is live and blew past its first funding goal in ab out 15 minutes, and approaching £450K and 2,500 backers in its first day.   His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectre...

PS Vita Roundup is 10 years old

As you may have noticed by the changes to the header, this blog has hit the big one-oh! An entire decade and over 7,500 posts. Back then, revving up for Christmas 2010, all the talk was about the PSP's last few big hitters like The 3rd Birthday and Gran Turismo

Then there was the incoming PlayStation Android Phone, eventually called Xperia Play and whatever Sony had planned for PlayStation Portable 2 (the blog was originally called PSP2 Roundup, still in the URL), eventually called the Vita. A system that seemed destined to fit in neatly between the PS3 and PS4 and do some cool mobile tricks.

The early days were full of whispers of an Uncharted game, as if a portable could really do justice to the PS3 series. And so many big dreams and ideas, some of which happened and some died in shame, while the Vita struggled to find a home in the market.

Through thick and thinner, some 7,500 posts later, I'm still going as I love the Vita - one of the best examples of hardware design - Posts are a bit slower than in its brief hey day, but us Vita owners march on in to a second decade, in the vague hope that Sony will do something portable again.

Remember, NEVER turn your back on the Vita! And with just one year to go until the Vita itself turns 10, look forward to still blogging about it then!
