Sigma Star Saga was one of many GBA games I heard about but never played, so its great to get another shot 20 years after the original. Wayforward (celebrating its 35th anniversary as a studio) are in charge of updating their own game, and have a very long list of fixes and modernisations in a DX update.
The developer's description sums things up pretty well. "Travel the stars, land on planets, explore on foot, wear a parasite on your head, get sucked into random shoot ‘em up battles to earn EXP. Build any shmup weapon under the sun, save the Earth, or side with the Krill Empire!"
Primary benefits of the DX revamp include extra save points, reduced random battles and faster player movement. Available as a physical GBA cart release via Limited Run and coming to modern consoles, this sounds like a shoe-in for an Evercade release alongside the usual suspects.
No release date yet, but it shouldn't be too far off an alien planet's horizon...
