You've probably seen this video of the PS Vita running Valve's Left 4 Dead via PlayStation Mobile. Note, it looks like he's streaming the game from his desktop, not installing it to the Vita. Don't think for a minute that Valve would sanction this for a release, but just think about the wider implications while you check out the clip.
There are tens of thousands of PC games out there, and the person who did this has a YouTube channel with a few other titles running to, presumably didn't require months of work to do. With the Vita badly in need of games, what will it take for a small team to get the license for a bunch of existing games, run them through the treadmill and release them on a revenue share-basis through the store?
How much effort would it take to get the likes of Portal, Skyrim, Spec Ops or older titles like Half-Life 2 or Starcraft running? Either streaming them, or by direct install for older games that the company will be happy to get some fresh revenue from.
