July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Activision Super Pocket dashes in with a swoosh of retro colour

I didn't think the Super Pocket range could top my sublime Neo Geo Edition, but in its primary way the newly revealed Activision model is just as impressive.

Packing in 34 Atari VCS-era games, featuring the likes of River Raid I and II, Pitfall! and Pitfall II: Lost Caverns, H.E.R.O and many more from the early days of console gaming it provides a highlights reel through the three available Activision Evercade cartridges, and at only £59.99 ($/€69.99) is still a bargain and an attractive extra if you own those carts or want to get into the Evercade world.

Arriving September, it can take any other Evercade cart, and pre-orders are live now. Along with the Spectrum and C64 clamshell models also coming soon, it provides a great journey into the origins of gaming for all players.

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
