July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Spectrum and C64 clamshell handhelds pop open from Evercade

Evercade's HyperMegaTech (aka the fun branch) brand has a double launch to celebrate today, with the announcement of ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 themed handhelds. The 8-bit giants continue their revival with plenty of new games in development and endless love for those loading screens and pure gameplay epics, if not the loading times.

Both packing 25 games, the standard versions are £109 while limited editions come with cases and exclusive copies of Crash! and ZZap! 64 magazine for £129, all with superb retro detailing. 

Featuring a 4.3-inch IPS screen, enough (rubber/plastic) buttons to cover common functions to stay true to the systems' origins. The units ship in October. 

And, in a first for the company, there's an SD card slot, so we can drop in our own game files to extend play way beyond the originals on the list below.  You can also plug in a USB keyboard for full control and to enjoy adventures, simulators and other key-heavy titles.
