PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  April 2026 Update:  Compatibility with PS5 and PS4 games seems to be locked-in, as anything the PS6 full fat hardware the portable versions should be able to do as well, with near-invisible trade-offs at the silicon level.  Prices are firming up too with estimates around the PlayStation 6 handheld at between $500 to $700 and a PlayStation 6 at $700 to $1,000, depending on the deepening silicon crisis and Sony's budgeting wizards.  Only a few developers around the world could afford to take advantage of it for AAA+ budget games. Cornfox returns with another joyous Oceanhorn adventure

Way back when the Vita was running as an indie hit machine, Oceanhorn Monster of Uncharted Seas gave us a perfect Zelda-like isometric adventure with popping visuals and cheery quests to set upon in a little boat.

The full 3D successor, Knights of the Lost Realm landed first on iOS and meandered to consoles over time. That's a route the trilogy title, Legend of the Shadow Sea is also taking.

Among the new features for Oceanhorn is Gero, a new robotic companion. It can help you glide, scan enemies, zap them, and find useful resources. Here it is in a 3D printed model at Cornfox.

Set around 1,000 years after the events of Oceanhorn 2, our latest hero wields powerful weapons against gigantic foes, running with pirates while sailing to the hidden corners of a world teeming with myth to discover the deeper mysteries behind the Stream of Creation!

I'll give everyone a nudge when the Switch 2 and PlayStation versions land, but with the iOS Apple Arcade version out in March, feel free to jump in early.

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
