Possible new PlayStation Portal model pays homage to the Vita's OLED

While much of the focus on PlayStation's next steps is the PS6 and PS6 Portable , the two-year old PlayStation Portal could be getting a revamp according to those pesky internet rumours.  Update : Hints at pricing are around £/$250-299 for the new model, but everything remains deeply in rumours territory. Presumably the goal is to hit the 10% (currently 7%-ish) adoption rate among PS5 owners, something that would make it a bone fide hit gadget.   The recent February  PlayStation State of Play  saw no announcement. But, PlayStation needs to make Portal more a core member of the PS5 family, rather than the distant cousin that most of its appearances suggest.  As the improvement in connectivity and streaming tech, proven by many gamers enjoying their PS5 or PlayStation Plus streamed content from around the world, an updated Portal Pro could be on the cards.  Possibly featuring a 120Hz display and an OLED screen in honour of the mighty Vita, that'd be coo...

Donut Dodo Fantastico cooking on retro consoles

Donut Dodo from Pixel Games was one of my favourite indie games of 2022, perfectly capturing the essence of classic arcade titles, with vibrant visuals, a fun but menacing enemy, and a daunting challenge. I'd say it was even better when it hit the Evercade in the third indie classic collection.

Announced last year, we nearing a release of the Fantastico sequel, on PC/Steam first, with a console outing later this year. Alongside Switch, DDF is also coming to Nintendo 64 and Dreamcast, or the modern emulated equivalents, and hopefully Evercade.

In the sequel the goofy donut-scoffing giant bird returns to treat Dodo Junior to a whirlwind day at the vintage funfair. But Baker Billy Burns is here to make a mess of things and grab every last donut before little Junior can get those wings sticky!

Donut Dodo FANTASTICO follows the route of the original, as a single-screen arcade platformer inspired by the golden age of gaming. Run, climb, jump, and scramble through colourful stages - dodging enemies, bouncing through hazards, and snatching up donuts before time runs out.

Each stage is a quick, skill-based challenge designed for short and sweet play sessions - whether you’ve got 3 minutes or 30, there’s always time for “just one more run.”
