Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. New Evercade hardware colour models up for pre-order

Still on the fence about jumping into the joyous retro-back waters Evercade cove? New versions of last year's VS-R and EXP-R have just been announced, allowing new collectors to jump into the Evercade console/computer/arcade experience at a budget-ish price. 


Returning from the grey/blue motif of the "R" launch variants, they will soon be available in the traditional Nintendo-esque white and red, with a dash of gray. The VS-R Solo is for use with HDTVs and comes with one controller, but can support 4 players. The VS-R Solo will be priced at £89.99 / €109.99 / $119.99. 

Just one of the many ways to join the Evercade club, there are currently 75 cartridges offer great retro gaming collection across all digital generations. 


 The Evercade EXP-R Solo (website only shows the old model, but should update soon) offers handheld play, priced at £99.99 / €119.99 / $119.99. Bundles of both models with cartridges may be available from Evercade retailers.
