Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

Gundam escapes from Japanese Vita exclusivity to Switch

Hot on the heels of Freedom Wars, Namco has another Vita refugee ready to escape into the wider gaming world.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Battle Destiny was a Japanese Vita exclusive from way back in 2012. It escapes both Japan and the Vita with a western Switch release, arriving May.

The remaster brings the perky little anime crew and their massive mechs to a fresh audience, with updated HD visuals, English localisation, an improved interface, target lock-on mode and more.

For the uninitiated, SEED = Superior Evolutionary Element Destined-factor and GUNDAM = General Unilateral Neurolink Dispersive Automatic Manoeuvre, proving that sci-fi folks are really terrible at acronyms.

The original made use of the Vita's touchscreens, something that has been likely been trimmed for the Switch and PC release via the new lock-on mode.

From the release, or watch the video: "As a soldier in volatile times, players must choose from one of the three factions– Earth Alliance, Z.A.F.T or Archangel to fight alongside in various story missions based on the series’ iconic moments such as Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny as well as side stories including Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Astray, Mobile Suit Gundam SEED C.E. 73: STARGAZER and more. With over 100 different mobile suits to choose from, players can tune their mechs to engage in thrilling, action-packed Gundam battles."
