Valfaris: Mecha Therion lays waste to consoles

First there was Slain (review), from Andrew Gilmour, a heavy metal fantasy action romp that graced the Vita. Then came Valfaris from Steel Mantis studios, which refined Slain's ideas and was a well-regarded hit on PC and consoles.

Now comes Valfaris: Mecha Therion hitting consoles as Therion continues his hunt for the vicious Lord Vroll. This time Therion gives up getting tired by running around the landscape to pilot an advanced machine across a highly kinetic 2.5D side-scrolling shoot ‘em up world.

Valfaris: Mecha Therion

After escaping Valfaris, Therion’s hunt for the evil Lord Vroll has taken him across the galaxy. As the final, inevitable showdown looms, Therion harnesses the awesome combat ability of his secret weapon – Mecha Therion to lay waste to the massive screen-shuddering monsters.

Key features include:

  • Another stomping soundtrack by  Curt Victor Bryan
  • Pilot a behemoth suit forged of metal and fury
  • Master a formidable selection of devastating weapons
  • Annihilate waves of alien enemies and powerful bosses
  • Collect module add-ons to enhance the suit's capabilities
Valfaris: Mecha Therion is out now, published by Big Sugar Games, on PS5 for £14.99 and Switch for £16.50 with strong early reviews. The original Valfaris got a physical release, so here's hoping Mecha Therion snags one too.
