Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

PSP's Star Wars Battlefront 2 heads to overpriced, underdelivering PS+ Premium

I cancelled my PS+ Premium subscription last week, fed up at the lack of effort Sony is putting into the archive. Apparently, that decision is validated by word that Sony can't be bothered updating PS2 emulation and a lack of effort in adding new classics.

One tiny plus, it seems more PSP games are headed to the PS4/PS5, with news of Star Wars Battlefront 2 heading to the service soon. That's cool but from the early hype that Sony was going to care this time, any sense of interest has rapidly gone off the boil.

All of which is leading to a major online kerfuffle with unhappy users and Sony reporting falling PS+ numbers, down 1.5 million, for the service since the summer revamp. And that's before the fanboy Xbox Live vs PS+ whining starts up. So, yeah, another botched Sony service? Or does anyone have hope for 2023?

All I wanted, what I really really wanted, was Ridge Racer (2) from PSP on a big screen to enjoy the perfect iteration of the series again. And they can't even get that right despite the Namco classic being available in some regions. And while Battlefront (on Vita) is fun, we had some great family battles across Vita and PSP in the day, it feels like minimum effort on Sony's part!

I'll resubscribe to the minimum tier, because Mass Effect Legendary edition, but once they're done, I think that's enough of Sony's screwing around.
