Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? Evercade EXP hardware feature tour

The original Evercade handheld is a lovely piece of retro engineering, and the collection of physical-only arcade and console collections make for perfect bite-sized gaming. But we move on, and the EXP successor model arrives in a couple of weeks (pre-order on Amazon for £129.99, or the excellent original is still available for only £60, but limited stock).

The Evercade EXP has a range of new features including the built-in Capcom collection, the format's first digital-only feature. There's also Tate mode for shmups, new button functions and a bunch of other little tweaks from the original, not to mention the lovely new 4.3” high resolution 800×480 IPS screen (see the full specs here).

This video explains it all, including the improved save state features and news of a day one update for those grabbing one for Christmas.

While there's the Evercade VS console for playing on a big screen, so much of the beauty of Evercade is the portable-play-anywhere, and the EXP should make that ever better, especially for Capcom fans.
