Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. UnMetal gets a physical Vita release

We knew that UnMetal was coming to the Vita, but getting a physical release is pretty much the only way to get much interest, now Sony doesn't update the digital store. Just as well that Eastasiasoft still has some bandwidth in its production plans, and has partnered with developer Francisco Tellez De Meneses (aka Unepic) to bring his hit 2D stealth action game UnMetal in boxed form.

With a sense of humour tucked firmly inside its combat jacket, UnMetal is an action-packed stealth game that borrows from TV, movies and games of the genre. The goal is to escape an enemy military base, but what starts as a simple breakout quickly turns into an inside operation to uncover your captors’ plans and prevent a massive attack that could threaten world peace.

Physical pre-orders of UnMetal will be available via Playasia at 11:00 pm Hong Kong time (10am ET / 3pm UK) Thursday, December 17th. Production will be limited to only 2,500 units. Each collector’s box includes the game, manual, CD soundtrack and numbered certificate for US$34.99 + shipping.
