Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

Persona 4 Golden escapes the Vita's Velvet Room

For all its flashiness, Persona 5 just isn't as gripping or engaging as Persona 4 Golden (review). So, it is kind of inevitable that Atlus would bow to the rising pressure to release the series' ultimate classic on other formats, eventually.

Seriously, most mentions of Persona 4 have been port beggars, growing in number for months - which makes a pleasant reversal of the usual situation. The 2012 Vita exclusive has had a great run as a torch against the darkness for the cult portable, but all things change.

Anyway, looks like that day has come with a Steam and other formats release set for the weekend. It is great that other people will get to play it, and a good thing is prices should come back down for the Vita version now P4G isn't super-rare (maybe)! Also, anyone who's written a P4G guide should be getting some good hits (damn!)

Wonder if a PlayStation 5 release is part of the package? Whatever the end result, nothing will match this game tucked up in bed with your favourite characters and their Personas, fighting some of the crazy battles against the shadows.

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
