PSP2, Switch 2 and an Xbox handheld... a brighter portable future?

Vernal Edge's Kickstarter brings sharp swordplay to the Switch

Vernal Edge from Matthew Martinez looks like an easy-win Kickstarter, over £7,500 pledged toward the £40K goal on day one with a month to go. Developed in Game Maker 2, there's a Switch version planned for the distant future, 2023 perhaps. But this looks like a project of creativity, passion and design skill worth backing (seriously, I'm still waiting for Heart Forth Alicia, funded back in 2014 and very much in development!)

Vernal Edge offers plenty of swishing sword action with Metroidvania elements, the heroine flies out in her airship to find new places to explore and monsters to beat up.  Exploring mysterious islands and fighting ruthless bosses, it uses a combat system inspired by deep technical action games like Devil May Cry.

Given the genius and love evident in so many sole-developer titles like Spelunky, Iconoclasts, Axiom Verge and many others, give Martin your money and let him work his magic! However long it takes.
