PSP2, Switch 2 and an Xbox handheld... a brighter portable future?

Black Ops Declassified charts for the Vita

Despite the wide slating it got in reviews, Call of Duty Black Ops Declassified still made it into the all-formats top 20. In at No. 16, meaning it probably sold a little less than Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation which made it up to No. 14 on its launch.

Its bigger brother naturally raced to the No. 1 spot with squillions of sales, but I think Activision will be smugly happy with its rip-off job. Of greater interest will be the upcoming hardware charts to see if these new games managed to get Vita handhelds shifting. As I've said, Declassified makes a better pack-in title than a full game, so it might help the Vita get moving.

With the Black Friday sales in the States offering a range of Vita bundles for $199, it could well get a decent boost in the coming weeks. However, to maintain that it will need a host of good games in 2013 to look forward to and now the Vita's happy season approaches fever pitch (with All-Stars and Sonic Racing), it might be good for Sony to drop some hints soon about what's to come.

The Vita's UK top five, for the record, is now:

1 new CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS DECLASSIFIED ACTIVISION
2 FIFA 13 EA SPORTS
3 ASSASSIN'S CREED III LIBERATION UBISOFT
4 NEED FOR SPEED MOST WANTED EA GAMES
5 LITTLEBIGPLANET PS VITA SONY COMPUTER

Which is the first time since launch that no launch games have been in the top five. Not much of a watershed moment, but progress nonetheless.
