Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

What Was Missing on Vita at E3? The Games We Still Want

As mentioned earlier, there are several other shows this year where so-far unveiled Vita games will break cover, so what was missing from the line up shown so far?

Well the most obvious candidate is a Gran Turismo game for Vita. Just upscaling the PSP's four-car-on-the-track version really won't cut it. That's begging for a Tokyo Game Show release, as is the PSP's biggest title Monster Hunter.

Also missing, for a while now, has been Syphon Filter, which had a nice little niche on the PSP and were probably the best sneaky shooters until Peace Walker turned up. Resistance is also missing from the list, although the upscaled PSP Retribution game should fill in the gap until a proper title emerges. Other favourites on the PSP were the Ratchet and Clank games, Ace Combat and Grand Theft Auto, surely there will be some news on them soon.

Finally there's the games that were never going to make it to PSP, how about the Half Life or Portal series getting a run out on the Vita. Could Rockstar manage to bundle Red Dead Redemption in there or how about a Fable game from Lionhead? Elder Scrolls was cancelled on PSP, so an NGP version by way of apology would be appreciated and lastly, the biggest cat in the house, surely a proper Modern Warfare game can be crammed into the Vita's carts.
