July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. New Evercade carts bring James Pond, The Last Ninja and IK series our way

Evercade continues to dig up the British classics, with 8-bit and 16-bit legends on the way in the latest post-summer reveal. 

The James Pond Collection (console cart 54) features four 16-bit platforming classics (including Underwater Agent, RoboCod, and StarFI5H).

While the The Last Ninja & International Karate (IK) Collection (computer cart 12): brings a hefty 14-game across the two series, spanning Commodore 64, Spectrum, Atari ST and more with those legendary soundtracks and immense gameplay

Both cartridges land on December 4, 2026, priced £24.99 each with pre-orders having opened on September 24. More to go on the release list that's fleshing out nicely for 2026.
