July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Retroid Pocket Nova delivers positive retro vibes

I haven't bothered much with the Android retro pocket scene recently, but the Retroid Pocket Nova has caught my interest. As a reasonably priced (from $229-ish) unit capable of playing PS2 and GameCube titles and down the retro line, it is getting a lot of interest. 

Available in a smart range of designs from Nintendo themed to Crystal (above) and Watermelon (below), whatever choice packs in a Qualcomm QCS8550 package featuring WiFi 7 and Kryo 7 CPU and Adreno GPU. Storage is 8GB or 12GB with 128 on SD with options including a dock and dual-screen add-on.  


Powered by OS: Android 13, the unit crams in a 4.5-inch, AMOLED screen running at 120Hz, with a 5000mAh battery and active-cooling to keep things running smoothly. On the top we have 3D hall sticks and analog L2/R2 buttons. 

Note that silicon prices could be shooting up again in the near future, so expect prices of everything to rise soon. I reckon the Pocket Nova is a bit of bargain, and as I squint at my Miyoo Mini screen, the display alone makes this a powerful upgrade, while not going overboard on size.
