July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. R-Type Dimensions 3 trailer goes lasers blazing

After the retro-poly joy of R-Type Delta HD Boosted, the ultimate retro shooter revival continues with Inin's R-Type Dimensions III, coming in May.


A new trailer for The Third Lightning shows off a whole world of lighting effects, hi-res gorgeousness and endless shooting challenge. And if you're a fan of the original nasty,  Dobkeratops, there's a very fetching replica in the collector's edition. 


Coming to Switch and PlayStation, with a host of other goodies, this looks like a great reminder of the glory days of shmups and a good example of how to respect them with a modern collection.
