Saros delivers Returnal 2 in all but name

Housemarque's Returnal remains one of the best PS5 games. Built to kill, raised to die, and fine-tuned to annoy the shit out me while dragging me back in for yet another go at  2AM.  Not-a-sequel Saros ropes in my one of my favourite actors Rahul Kohli into the mix with proper shields, greater weapons freedom, Indian-styled visuals, and borrowing  Xenon 2: Megablast's palette and violence.  Saros is set on Carcosa, a shape-shifting, hostile alien planet. It changes on every death, where a total eclipse changes everything (very Pitch Black!). The video shows the first biome, hopefully the others shift up the palette more than Returnal did.  Along his journey he finds Nitya Chandran (Shunori Ramanthan), adding some depth to the Returnal-mayhem. The stunning environment Arjun explores is that of a lost ancient civilization fueled by the twisted enlightenment of the eclipse.  Saros lands in March 2026, check out the PlayStation blog post for more details on w...

Ayaneo lining up a limited edition Pocket DMG

Not long after the Evercade Kith LE, we have Ayaneo warming up for a livestream tomorrow to show off what appears to be a shiny metal version of the Pocket DMG. Billed as a Bright Silver exclusive limited edition, it looks impressive, but only die-hard collectors or those new to the brand will likely shell out for it.

There are various specifications in the family, with DroiX putting a £30 premium (provisionally) for just under £350 on the new silver model. Ayaneo positioned the DMG as a super-charged Game Boy style device, but capable of playing pretty much anything in your retro archive.

US prices are $399 early bird for the 8GB+128GB model (soon to be $449), and $419EB, later $529 for the 12GB+256GM model.

Features include:

Snapdragon G3x Gen 2
3.92" OLED Display, 6000mAh battery
Left joystick + touchpad and Magic Switch scroll wheel
Coastline shoulder buttons

The originals were available in black or white plastic cases, so this is a posh edition, but there seems little need to upgrade the power or storage.

Retroid's Pocket Classic 6 is a neat budget option, with Sega Saturn styling, if you're not in need of all that power, with more front buttons for around £150.

The Classic 6 has a weaker Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 octa-core processor compared to the DMG's Snapdragon G3x Gen 2, but again, that's insane power for a dinky portable. Check out the full reveal tomorrow

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
