Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Evercade announces new contenders, Activision and Llamasoft enter the Grid

We've already had a batch of Ultimate/Rare Spectrum and Nintendo games announced from the Blaze/Evercade squad this month and now there's more delights (after a spot of teasing over the week) on the way to add to the release list with a pair of spectacular new additions to the line-up.

First up is Activision Collection 1, as console cart 47 finally bringing the classic Atari 2600-era titles to Evercade with the joys of BeamRider, Enduro, River Raid and Pitfall among 15 titles, arriving in November.

Naturally, there's some gaps there for H.E.R.O, Decathlon, Ghostbusters and many sequels to appear in future carts, but well done Evercade for persisting and filling in the most obvious gap across the platform's roster. Trailer here

And then we have The Llamasoft Collection (Computer cart 10) bringing a staggering 27 of Jeff Minter's legendary udder-obsessed games across most home computer formats stretching from the VIC-20 to the Atari ST. This cart includes legendary titles like Gridrunner, Attack of the Mutant Camels and Llamatron 2112, Voidrunner and Hover Bovver, with some variants.

This too hits in November, with a bust festive season lined up for Evercade owners, whatever version of the system they have.
