July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Cyberpunk 2077 now streaming to PlayStation Portal thru PS+ Premium

The new PlayStation Plus roster update is a meaty one as part of the 15th anniversary celebrations, with Cyberpunk 2077 the major addition, alongside the excellent Risk of Rain 2, and a host of others

That means, via the latest Portal firmware update. PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers can stream these beauties direct to the Portal through its beta cloud streaming feature. All without the need for the clunky "putting the disc in your PS5" rigmarole or navigating the herd of updates!

This also means the likes of Digital Foundry will likely leap into action with a three-hour comparison of Portal vs Switch 2 Cyberpunk gameplay, or not.

Whatever, this is another useful demonstration of the Portal's features as it continues to play the long, quiet games as a PlayStation accessory. Marketing has gone a bit quiet recently, so it can do with a nudge and I guess Cyberpunk is still an in-demand game as the world waits for GTA6.

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
