Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Atari Arcade 2 digs into the early days of video games

Atari Arcade 2 is the third release for the Evercade in 2025. A new Arcade cart, it dives into Atari's history with some hard-to-find titles from the early days that most of us have never heard of, or played.

Starting with Fire Truck from 1978, so old its in black and white up to popular robot-blasting action games Berzerk from 1980 and 1982's Frenzy are the highlights of the 10-game collection. Rarities include Maze Invaders, a complete Atari prototype never released to arcades, rediscovered in 2014.

The cart hits stores in April and Atari Arcade 2 includes:

Berzerk – One of the most legendary arcade shooters, featuring fast-paced maze combat against relentless robotic enemies. Beware of Evil Otto!

Frenzy – The sequel to Berzerk, introducing destructible walls, new enemy AI, and even more intense gameplay.

Lost Tomb – A fast-paced top-down adventure that challenges players to escape booby-trapped tombs while fending off dangerous enemies.

Mine Field – A unique shooter where players must navigate a deadly minefield while blasting enemies and avoiding hazards.

Moon War – A space combat game where players must defend their moonbases from relentless alien assaults.

Rescue – Take to the skies in this intense helicopter rescue mission, evading enemy fire while saving stranded paratroopers.

Tazz-Mania – A fast-paced arcade game where players must fend off hordes of enemies before the walls close in on them.

Fire Truck – A challenging top-down driving game where players must negotiate winding city streets while keeping their truck under control.

Dark Planet – A tricky strategic shooter in which the action unfolds across two distinct layers as players battle to eliminate an alien threat.

Maze Invaders – A unique arcade hybrid combining maze navigation with action-packed combat and puzzle-solving elements.
