July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Ayaneo Pocket EVO steps up portable gaming

Is this the closest we will ever get to a PS Vita 2? Ayaneo's new Pocket EVO is a beast of a handheld with a 7-inch 120Hz OLED screen, dual sticks, a beast of a Gen3X Gen 2 SoC from Qualcomm and everything we need to play emulated PSP and Vita games on the go (other platforms are available).

At the other end of the spectrum to the recently revealed budget-but-loveable Anbernic RG40XX, the EVO packs in a big battery to drive all the tech, and has plenty of other features handily explained in the image below (yes, Ayaneo marketing is getting better too!)

Yes, players moan about the Ayaneo brand just like any other, but this looks like the full stop in gaming for retro players, depending on the soon-to-be-announced price and availability.
