Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

Resistance Retribution fights from PSP to PS5

After something of a lull, PlayStation's library of essential PSP games are on the move to modern platforms again. This month with Bend Studio's mighty Resistance Retribution landing on PS4/PS5 for PlayStation Plus subscribers (or those that own the PSP digital original).

Update: And the PSP titles keep rolling on at a regular cadence with classic furfest Daxter from Ready at Dawn joining the PSP's PS+ roster in June. One of the best-rated platform adventures, now with plenty of easy trophies, Daxter (his solo adventure, pre-Jak) is still a great romp through the sewers and factories of Haven City with many bugs to splat and light platforming to enjoy.

Original piece: If this news sounds familiar, Ridge Racer was mentioned among the first of the tweaked PSP games for the then-newly-upgraded PS+ service almost two years ago.

Notable for its Infected mode working in tandem with Resistance 2 on the PS3 when you linked them up (something the Vita's Resistance Burning Skies tried a similar trick with Near mode), Retribution was a powerhouse on the PSP, even without dual sticks (but you could play it with a DualShock through the PS3 link).

Retribution moved the series to Paris where British army chap-hero James "Oh, bollocks!" Grayson takes it to the alien Chimera invaders. Boosted with the power of upscaled visuals, DualSense controls, on-the-fly saves, rewind and it should have trophies, but no listing yet (update: Bend has confirmed trophies including a Platinum). Resistance Retribution will pop up on PS+ next week (20th February), or you can buy it on the Vita store now for around $/£/€7.

Unlikely that the multiplayer modes (which officially went offline back in 2015) will make it through the edit, but we'll see.
