Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

Fight 'n Rage dials brawling up to 120fps

South America has delivered some great gaming recently, with the likes of 99 Vidas and Vasara showing a strong passion for the arcade classics. Now coming to PS5 and Xbox, Uruguay's Seba delivers a new Fight 'n Rage, the pro-max version if you will, of a PS4/Switch 2019 arcade brawler. Packing in a 120fps mode, new play modes and more unlockable goodies, it dials everything up to 11 for those raised on Renegade and Final Fight.

Fight n Rage

While the first thing noticeable from these screens might be the retro CRT look and scanlines, Fight 'n Rage is a thoroughly modern take on those classics. It delivers a strong focus on replay value, something that the recent Final Vendetta struggled to deliver with huge combos and special moves.

All that with intense visuals, a belting soundtrack and a regular cadence of new game modes, unlockables and goodies to keep us hooked. Plus multiplayer modes to bring back the joy of fraternal pummelling sessions and more:
  • Multiple endings: Your in-game actions will decide the story!
  • Explosive combo system: Blow up your enemies with special combos!
  • Plenty of unlockables: Costumes, Game Modes, Options and even Playable Enemies!
  • Different weapons and parry system.
  • Local co-op mode: Up to 3 players with optional friendly fire.
  • VS Mode: 1-on-1 battles against another player or the CPU. Or watch CPU vs CPU battles.
  • Additional near impossible extra challenges for pro-gamers!

Fight n Rage
Fight n Rage is out now (1st March), published by BlitWorks for €/$19.99 or £15.99, I should have a review up soon!
