PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  April 2026 Update:  Compatibility with PS5 and PS4 games seems to be locked-in, as anything the PS6 full fat hardware the portable versions should be able to do as well, with near-invisible trade-offs at the silicon level.  Prices are firming up too with estimates around the PlayStation 6 handheld at between $500 to $700 and a PlayStation 6 at $700 to $1,000, depending on the deepening silicon crisis and Sony's budgeting wizards.  Only a few developers around the world could afford to take advantage of it for AAA+ budget games. Everyone else is still barely cutting the skin of the PS5's power, and most western smal...

Guntech 2 lights up the Switch

I saw a few posts about Guntech 2 from Utopos Games and one of them mentioned Oids, my all-time favourite 16-bit arcade "tricky" shooter by FTL. Which leads me straight to this trailer that lights up the Switch so much that I wish I had an OLED model to enjoy this new release as it should be viewed.

Guntech 2 is something that retro arcade fans should love, but has a modern look and plenty of up-to-date features, with massive enemies and monsters clogging the screen. The twin-stick shooter borrows from multiple classic arcade games, but with up to four players joining in the fun.

The left stick is used to steer and thrust your ship, and the right stick to control the main railgun weapon. Your ship can pack a total of three different weapons from a range of 20, with missions across 5 zones (Tutorial, Virus, The Dark Worlds, Space Jungle, and Cargo Hauler) requiring you to figure out what's best.

The original was a remake of a 1993 Atari ST title - Utopos - and for $14.99/£13.49 looks like a lot of arcade fun to enjoy.

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
