PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  April 2026 Update:  Compatibility with PS5 and PS4 games seems to be locked-in, as anything the PS6 full fat hardware the portable versions should be able to do as well, with near-invisible trade-offs at the silicon level.  Prices are firming up too with estimates around the PlayStation 6 handheld at between $500 to $700 and a PlayStation 6 at $700 to $1,000, depending on the deepening silicon crisis and Sony's budgeting wizards.  Only a few developers around the world could afford to take advantage of it for AAA+ budget games. Evercade Indie Heroes 2 collection ready for physical

The launch of the Evercade VS console came with a monthly stream of indie titles as one of the bonuses for the big-screen version of the little console. For people sticking to the handheld Evercade, those games, plus a few more goodies, will soon be available for us in physical form on the Indie Heroes 2 collection. 

Packing in a dozen retro-modern titles, there's bags of pixel fun in the follow up to the impressive Indie Heroes 1 collection, that offered many hours of fun with the likes of Flea and Alien Cat 2.

The new collection goes up for pre-order this week, arriving in January, the line-up includes these games from the Game of the Month VS promo:

  • Tapeworm Disco Puzzle - Lowtek Games 
  • Nessy The Robot - Daniel T. Gaming 
  • Reknum Souls Adventure - Nape Games 
  • The Cowlitz Gamers’ Adventure Trilogy - Łukasz Kur and M-Tee

  • Eyra: The Crow Maiden - Second Dimension 
  • Lunar Journey - Greenboy Games 
  • Yeah Yeah Beebiss II - Rigg’d Games

And new to all gamers are an extra neat little collection of indies:
  • The Gruniożerca Trilogy - Łukasz Kur and M-Tee (3 hamster-based arcade games in 1) 
  • Nix: The Paradox Relic - Dustin Huddleston (2D action adventure) 
  • Beer Slinger - Second Dimension (a sort of tribute to the legendary Tapper) 

Tucked away in the release is the news that Game of the Month series will return in 2023 for both Evercade VS and EXP users.
