Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? A quick dive into Renovation Collection 1

The freshly announced Renovation Collection 1 is coming in 2022. Unlike most Evercade carts, it is all new territory for me, so extra excitement. So, lets take a look and see what exciting 16-bit Mega Drive/Genesis games are on the way, with shooters, platformers, RPGs and combat games all in the mix from the Japanese developer.

Note, most of these videos are long-plays, so skip around to get the idea of each game rather than ruining the surprise for when the cart hits next year.

Arcus Odyssey (isometric action, fantasy)

Beast Wrestler (2D fighting against an isometric background, fantasy)

Dino Land (cute pinball)

El Viento (magic-heavy platformer)

Exile (very retro role playing)

Final Zone (mech shooter, some of the worst sound effects ever)

Gaiares (shmup, looking forward to this one)

Granada (multi-directional shmup)

Sol-Deace (shmup, looks a bit broken in the videos)

Traysia (very by-the-numbers role playing)

Valis: The Fantasm Soldier (platformer, slow)

Valis 3 (platformer, slightly faster)
