Possible new PlayStation Portal model pays homage to the Vita's OLED

While much of the focus on PlayStation's next steps is the PS6 and PS6 Portable , the two-year old PlayStation Portal could be getting a revamp according to those pesky internet rumours.  Update : Hints at pricing are around £/$250-299 for the new model, but everything remains deeply in rumours territory. Presumably the goal is to hit the 10% (currently 7%-ish) adoption rate among PS5 owners, something that would make it a bone fide hit gadget.   The recent February  PlayStation State of Play  saw no announcement. But, PlayStation needs to make Portal more a core member of the PS5 family, rather than the distant cousin that most of its appearances suggest.  As the improvement in connectivity and streaming tech, proven by many gamers enjoying their PS5 or PlayStation Plus streamed content from around the world, an updated Portal Pro could be on the cards.  Possibly featuring a 120Hz display and an OLED screen in honour of the mighty Vita, that'd be coo...

Trifox sniffing out the Switch in 2022

Publisher Big Sugar and Belgium-based developer Glowfish Interactive are bringing Trifox to the Nintendo Switch and other platforms in early 2022. At first glance I had some strange vibes about a modern take on the PC classic Total Annihilation by Cavedog, which is no bad thing.

An action-adventure with a variety of ways to play, it features a multi-talented mammal, the Trifox who can use the skills of a trio of different character types – Warrior, Mage, and Engineer to succeed. Each has its own unique set of class-based abilities and these can be mixed-and-matched, allowing players to create a wily protagonist with a tailor-made moveset.

Features include:

Three different classes: Wield a giant hammer as a Warrior! Master magic and mystery as a Mage! Use a backpack full of gadgets as an Engineer!

Mix-and-match styles: Customise your Trifox by combining different class-based abilities! Want to cast spells and fire a Gatling Gun? No problem!

30 abilities to unlock: Collect and spend coins to gain new skills, such as Spike Slam, Shield Bubble, Guided Missile, and many more!

Four worlds to beat: Fight hordes of enemies, traverse platforming pitfalls, overcome environmental puzzles, and battle big angry bosses!

A modern retro adventure: A new and fresh experience designed to evoke the spirit of classic 3D platformers!

Trifox was nominated as 'Most Anticipated Game' at the Belgian Game Awards, received honorable mentions at the Unfold Games Awards for 'Best Level Design' and 'Best Character Design', and was awarded a 'Seal of Approval' after being selected to participate in Yogscast's Tiny Teams event. Sounds interesting and can't wait to see more on the Switch or Switch Pro when it comes out.

Currently playing on my Vita/PS3/PS4/PS5
