Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

Horizon Chase Turbo revs up on PlayAsia

This was pretty much a given, having had the trophy listing surface a month ago and Horizon Chase Turbo was under discussion way back. But here's positive confirmation of the excellent retro-racer hitting the Vita, presumably in physical-only form soon. There's a ship date of third-quarter, which is no bad thing and the usual audio CD in the box.

Preorders open on this Thursday, June 10th at 11pm Hong Kong (11am ET / 4pm UK). Only 2,200 units! You can grab one here come the magic hour.

Note, EAS has its summer showcase video today (Tues 8th June at 4PM UK) which may have a few more Vita games to reveal.

Pre-orders are opening "soon", will update when they go live! Here's the blurb.

A tribute to classic arcade racers!

Horizon Chase Turbo is a racing game inspired by the great hits of the 80's and 90's. Each curve and each lap in Horizon Chase Turbo recreates classic arcade gameplay and offers you unbound speed limits of fun. Full throttle on and enjoy!

Horizon Chase Turbo brings back the graphic context of the 16-bit generation and creates a style that is inspired in the past without letting go of its contemporaneity. The apparent polygon and secondary color aesthetic accentuate the visual beauty of the game, resulting in a unique and harmonic atmosphere. You'll feel the retro soul of the game on a completely modern body.
