Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Shoot 1UP DX (doesn't) blast the Vita

If Habroxia 2 has given you a shoot 'em up itch you need to scratch, a trophy listing for Mommy's Best Game's Shoot 1UP DX suggests you won't have to itch for long. The game orignally hit Steam in 2015, with a Switch udpate in DX form with fresh content hitting last year, heading to the Vita and PS4 soon.

UPDATE: This game and MBG's next release Explosionade DX are not coming to the Vita, they put up trophy listings as a just-in-case, but looks the games will be PS4/PS5 only. 


 Packed with big bosses, lots of power-ups and intense looking action, the game's trick is that when you pick up an extra ship you can deploy it instantly to beef up your firepower, contracting and expanding the formation to protect them. With multiple difficulty levels, 8 impressive-looking levels and a world of bullets, this looks pretty great, and got good reviews in its various versions.
