Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

Gal*Gun Double Peace is back and reloaded

Appearing out of nowhere on PSN, Gal*Gun: Double Peace - Ultimate Edition crams in a load (but not all) the 2016's Inti Create original DLC and costumes for a meaty £33. You can get the original for £16 if that seems steep, without the fluff. Either way, this is a good chance to get on board the quirky, sexy on-rails shooter where you have to fend off the ladies.

The new edition includes all of the main game's DLC to date, except for "Pheromone Z" (an over-priced see-though costume piece of DLC). What you do get is:

  • Two ‘size’ modifiers, so you can customize to your taste: Demon Pork Buns and Angel Cutting Board. (not having played it, that makes no sense at all).
  • 21 costume sets: Ripped Uniform, Cunning Kunoichi, Wedding Dress, Sakurazaki Squad 777, Sexy Ribbons, Festival Time, Bunny Kigurumi, Chinese Dress, Maid Uniform, Courageous Hero, Bewitching Sorceress, Revitalizing Cleric, Captivating Dancer, Queen of Pain, Shrine Maiden, Blast From the Past, You’re a Squid Now, Summer Vacation, Hidden Desire, Prisoner of Love, and Bear Kigurumi.

The sequel made it out for the PS4 and Switch a couple of years ago, kind of a shame PQube didn't look to bundle them together for the Vita, but hey ho!
