Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

News from Sony, PS5 logo and PS4 numbers

Ooh, Sony has a press release, quite a rare occurrence outside of release or earnings season. It says:

"Sony announced that PlayStation Network’s December 2019 monthly active users have reached 103 million. Additionally, the PlayStation 4 console has sold through more than 106 million globally, and cumulative sales of PS4 software titles from retailers and PlayStation Store have reached 1.15 billion as of December 31, 2019."

In a related note, PS VR sales are now around 5 million, basically a third of the Vita, and yet Sony continues to support that. Also, Sony I've seen at least 20 people pick up second-hand Vita handhelds over Christmas on Twitter alone, so there could be a good few hundred users you could to the list.

In other Sony news, here's the official PS5 logo from CES, looking remarkably like the previous logos as Sony goes for strong-and-stable continuity.

Here's hoping the PS5 gets a startup sound effect, something that was sorely missing from the Vita and PS4. Remember Sony peeps, consoles are about fun for the user, not just sticking to some branding wonk's idea of design purity.
