PSP2, Switch 2 and an Xbox handheld... a brighter portable future?

Shining Resonance Refrain brings dragons to the Switch

Nothing like a shit title to make you hate an RPG from the off, so enter Sega with "Shining Resonance Refrain" a name that makes zero sense at all. According to the dictionary:

  • Resonance is a phenomenon in which an external force drives another system to oscillate with greater amplitude (think of an opera singer shattering a glass with her voice).
  • Refrain is to abstain from an impulse, or a recurring verse, likely the latter.
So this game is: Bright-thing-vibrating-repeating-chorus, what the hell does that even mean?

"Shining Resonance Refrain" is a remaster of the original Japanese PS3 dragon fighting RPG game "Shining Resonance" with dual audio for English and Japanese. In addition to all of the original's DLC, it adds a new "Refrain Mode," unlocking the Imperial Princess Excella and Dragonslayer Jinas as party members for a new experience.

In real-time action combat, players need to use each party member's unique abilities and strengths while deepening relationships with each character. Through events and dates, get to know your party members to unlock their full potential on the battlefield! Depending on the bonds of the characters, "Resonance" may occur between them, providing a new level of support, leading to victory.
