July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Minecraft still the pocket monster in Golden Week Media Create chart

Golden Week holiday sales failed to boost the games and hardware sales, as expected. Nothing did massive numbers, as console sales have slid from the lofty highs of the PSP era. Vita sales are just a few hundred behind the 3DS LL.


On the software front, Minecraft is the only Vita game in the top 20, but continues to surge in sales, shifting 18.000 and moving back up the chart to No. 3. That's rapidly approaching 150,000 physical sales to go with the huge number of digital sales, as it came out months earlier on PSN.
