Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

Operation Abyss leads a busy week for Vita reviews in Famitsu

While Yoshi's New Island top scores for the 3DS in this week's Famitsu, Operation Abyss (screens) might not have smashed scoring records, but looks to have done well enough to be another big seller, on the back of the success of Demon Gaze.

Well done to Milestone who's WRC 4 gets the best Vita score of the week, I'm not sure how many rally fans there are in Japan but with no new Sega Rally (since the PSP version?) recently, I guess it stands out as something different.

5bp's Corpse Party: Blood Drive ramps up the scares, but perhaps at the expense of gameplay. Note, the PSP titles are currently 2-for-1 on the US PSN, Corpse Party/Corpse Party: Book of Shadows (PS Vita & PSP) for $19.99. All the games are out on the 24th in Japan.

I'm not sure what Ten no Koku (video below) did to polarize the reviewers, but I doubt we'll be seeing it anyway, its a visual novel where kids meet in their dreams which become perilous places indeed. Read more about that on this handy Visual Novel blog.
