July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. CounterSpy to stealth up Vita and PS3 gaming

Spy vs. Spy fans might like the sound of this game, from new team Dynamighty (formed from ex-LucasArts, Pixar folks). Mixing hints of Bond, Men from UNCLE, Matt Helm and other sixties spy TV shows, it puts you in the smart shoes of an elite member of C.O.U.N.T.E.R. whose goal is to infiltrate, sabotage, and silently neutralise the super powers in their insane arms build up of mega bombs and secret weapons.

With lots of stealth, stylistic shadows, and hopefully an arsenal of clever tricks up your immaculately starched collar, this could be the perfect antidote to all the spy games that turned out to be grim first-person shooters.


More on the PSN blog, looks like a brilliantly realised theme, hope the gameplay holds up to those lofty ideals. I've asked the developers for some more details, as this could be a game that ticks every box in my gaming wish list. There's some more cool art on the company blog.
