July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Due to lack of sales (only 7 titles have passed the 100,000 mark in the last year) and economics, it still doesn't matter to PlayStation owners, collectors are stores, who can now only sell digital codes in a box.  June 2026 Update : The latest snippet of gossip for Sony's next-gen systems is a modular/external drive that will connect to both devices. Guess why FIFA 13 is back on top of the Vita chart

I was wondering why things were looking a little odd at the top of the Vita UK chart recently. Turns out FIFA's rise back to the top is the same reason Virtua Tennis has had such a good run, a decent price cut.

FIFA 13, the not-much-of-an-update on the Vita's first football game, is now available on Amazon for £16 as a Prime offer, and probably less in other places. Virtua Tennis is going for around £5 and Sonic All-Stars is around £15. Lego Lord of the Rings is under £20 too, so while we're in a little lull on the new games front, now's probably a good time to raid the back catalogue.

1 - FIFA 13 EA SPORTS
2 NEED FOR SPEED MOST WANTED EA GAMES
3 ASSASSIN'S CREED III LIBERATION UBISOFT
4 CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS DECLASSIFIED ACTIVISION
5 VIRTUA TENNIS 4: WORLD TOUR EDITION SEGA
6 LEGO THE LORD OF THE RINGS WARNER
7 SONIC & ALL STARS RACING TRANSFORMED SEGA

9 UNCHARTED: GOLDEN ABYSS SONY

Is there anything else you fancy but are waiting until its more of a budget price? Note Japan has just started its Vita budget range, so ours will likely arrive in the summer months.
