July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Persona 4 Golden tops Vita chart, fails to dent all formats

Well, that's not good. While it was a shoo-in for No. 1 on the Vita chart, the sales of the format's best game by far failed to make a dent in the all-formats top 20. While I wasn't expecting it to beat Crysis or Metal Gear Slicy-Dicey, it should have done more than enough to dislodge some of the games that have been out for months.

Some of the other charts published later might show it, deeper in the thirties or forties, but you'd have thought a must-have title enough Vita owners would be able to punt it in to the upper reaches, above say 20,000 sales which is needed for top five these days.

UPDATE - it squeaked into 32nd place according to one report, that could be as low as 3-5,000 sales. No where near good enough to make any developer think about a high-profile launch this year. While some sales will be digital, and therefore not recorded, its a hefty-sized 3GB game and one I'd put aside for physical purchase.
