July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. LittleBigPlanet outsells FIFA 13 on PS Vita

I had a big chuckle when I saw the new UK chart this morning. Gamers proved they can distinguish between a quality game and a marketing snowball. LittleBigPlanet remains at No. 1 in the British Vita game chart, with FIFA 13 only managing the No. 2 spot. And that's despite EA's attempt at a news blanket to, in my view, con gamers into thinking it was a major upgrade.

1 =  LITTLEBIGPLANET PS VITA SONY
2 new FIFA 13 EA SPORTS
3 - UNCHARTED: GOLDEN ABYSS SONY
4 =  RAYMAN ORIGINS UBISOFT
5 - FIFA FOOTBALL EA SPORTS
6 =  WIPEOUT 2048 SONY
7 - RESISTANCE: BURNING SKIES SONY
8 + LITTLE DEVIANTS SONY
9 + EVERYBODY'S GOLF SONY
10 + MORTAL KOMBAT   WARNER

Sure the Vita version of FIFA 13 fixes a few flaws in the original, but it is a bare bones update, and no relation to the major versions, despite the Vita's proven capacity to handle the likes of Cross Play, Mixed online play and so on.

Not that EA needs much consolation, it claims FIFA has sold over a million copies, and did manage to top the PSP and the all-formats chart!
