Vectrex Mini interview - David Oghia talks up the nostalgic vector powerhouse

Having been wowed by the news of the Vectrex Mini at Gamescom , I rushed off some questions to VectrexOn's main man  David Oghia . After a post-event, well earned, break, he's kindly given us a lot of detail about the project and some new images of the unit to share.  His story mirrors mine somewhat, Vectrex represents a glowing, unaffordable, obelisk of gaming power from our youth! But he's had the energy and drive to do something about it, and met the right people to get the job done!  What first got you interested in Vectrex and what spawned the idea of a Mini version? I’ve always been passionate about retro-gaming, but my first love was computers rather than consoles — the ZX81, then the Commodore 128. I only really discovered the console world in the late 90s, which is when I got my very first Vectrex. Of course, I had seen it in stores back in 1983, but at that time it was far too expensive for me.  Today, I own five Vectrex systems at home. Vector-based games ...

US Vita advert sucks ass, makes Europe's look like an Oscar winner

Ewwww! What the hell were they thinking? With Sony claiming to be spending $50 million marketing the Vita, I was expecting something a bit higher class than this. Sure, there's a few more nanoseconds of actual gameplay in the U.S. advert. But, it lacks any sense of oneness, coherence and passion that the EU advert (watch it here) has in spades. Whatever Sony's bullshit Brand manager says (note the videos have vanished from the PS site too), this sucks mightily.

UPDATE: This advert appears to have fallen off the face of the earth, all I remember is people running around on a roof or abandoned buildings among lots of cement! Anyone remember it? Or can find a copy?

Honestly, the EU advert I could see winning an award or two, but the US one looks like an advert for a concrete firm, (I'm sure they think they're branding it around the concrete jungle, but it doesn't come across like that) as that's what most of the ad is taken up with. I don't wish to start an inter-continental bitch fest here, but it really is wrong. Opinions, please...
