UPDATE -There's now a list of
70 work-in-progress titles doing the rounds, a lot of them are vague and most are very Japanese so I won't bother reproducing it, but there's one name that stands out
Starstrike Delta (Sony), no images or news on it but it
sounds good.
Oh my God it's early. But if Hideo Kojima loves the PS Vita enough to bring Zone of Enders out for it, then I'm happy to be awake. That's the lead news out of Tokyo from Sony's Vita launch event. Page will update as news comes out.
26 games at launch, 100 in development, 600 PSP games are compatible, plus a UMD conversion service in the works.
Metal Gear HD, ZoE HD collections plus an all new Kojima game with no title, lots of transfaring with PS3.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Katamari Damacy, God Eater 2, Tales of Innocence (site opens later today), Disgaea 3 Returns have also been announced.
The launch date for PSV, December 17. Sony will offer a pre-pay plan for 3G access to avoid that contract nastiness and the first 500,000 will come with 100 free hours of airtime. Nice. Of course, that doesn't affect the cheaper WiFi only model.
Cave has a couple of new titles on the way, one shooter (no title) and a cutesy Samurai social game.
Square is offering two new launch titles, Lord of Apocalypse and Army of Hell (Square does Monster Hunter). We also get a remake of Final Fantasy X.
Capcom has Marvel vs. Capcom and Street Fighter x Tekken, but no MH title.
And that was it, not as much as I'd hoped for, but still a great big bunch of new stuff with a reasonably mix of new games and existing big names. Just
one negative thought on the event really..
WHAT WAS MISSING:
No Monster Hunter, of any kind, given it was shown at the
PlayStation Meeting back in January, and Sony really needs one to sell the system. ALso, no Yakuza as recently rumoured and no Call of Duty or Lost Planet - also shown at the original launch.
