July Update: PlayStation 6 and PlayStation Portable future visions

 The recent PlayStation video about the "simulated" technology in development, discussed between AMD and Sony engineers that will power the PlayStation 6 was interesting from a geek point of view. But from a gameplay perspective, there is - IMO - no need for a PlayStation 6 for another few years. Especially with the limp Xbox is-it-isn't-it launch .  July 2026 Update : Sony managed a cannon-fire sized self-inflicted injury by announcing the end of physical releases across the end of the PS5 era and the launch of the PS6. Xperia Play Getting Another Limited Exclusive: Rainbow Six

The Xperia Play is using its gaming prowess to good advantage and is getting a nice line-up of timed exclusives. Not too sure if that'll help it sell more phones, but every little helps. The latest is Rainbow Six: Shadow Vanguard, from Gameloft.




Aside from the top notch graphics for a phone game there is the enticement of multiplayer, which got it bad reviews on the iPhone version, but hopefully has been polished for the Xperia Play. BackBreaker 2 was the last notable exclusive and there are probably more coming, although Minecraft has to be the big one everyone is waiting for.
